Ugnayan would like to thank all the youth, domestic workers, women, babies, allies, hiphop heads, rockers, musicians, New York transplants, Jerseyites, and everyone who supported the Pre-Reclaim 3 Fundraiser Show last Saturday!
People came in waves but there were more than 80 youth and allies who came through despite the rain. Ugnayan was also able to raise more than $600. Our deepest gratitude to everyone, including the domestic workers who brought their check books! =)
The night was filled with poems and songs of resistance. It was also a commemoration of the anniversary of martial law in the Philippines which victimized thousands of innocent Filipino civilians. Martial law was declared on September 21, 1972 by the late US-backed dictator Ferdinand Marcos. It abruptly ended because of the People Power Uprising led by the strong national democratic movement.
